Part of my concern comes from the fact that a good number of these “celebrities” are having what I consider to be totally unnecessary procedures, but they are setting a precedent, they are setting an example that, as a consequence, is causing many people to examine more closely how they appear. Stare at your nose for long enough in the mirror and eventually you will be able to convince yourself that you need a nose job when in reality, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your nose at all.It is an inescapable fact that today, body image and how we look is becoming more and more important to many. There is no doubt that this is a side-effect of the bombardment of images we get of celebrities not only looking at their most glamorous and beautiful, but also, unfortunately, less flattering images depicting them in “real-life” situations. Certainly for the younger generation, there is tremendous peer pressure on the need to look your very best. As a plastic surgeon in Bristol, I get to witness at first hand the effects of this subliminal drive towards the body beautiful, and it is concerning.

My other concern is a Bristol plastic surgeon is that many of these procedures are wholly cosmetic in nature and frankly, unnecessary in the grander scheme of things. Unfortunately, we don’t get to hear the full story, but the impression it gives is that plastic surgeons will do whatever they are asked without question. From a personal point of view, I find this frustrating, because it goes against my total professional ethos where plastic surgery is concerned. Certainly I fully appreciate the desires of a number of my clients to have procedures performed that personally I don’t feel are 100% essential, but I am also fully aware of the full picture and therefore a minor procedure can have a minor change to someone’s physical appearance, but create a massive change to their personal confidence and mental well-being. To me this is what good plastic surgery is all about, it is a balance.

Whether it is rhinoplasty, breast augmentation or breast reduction, a tummy tuck, a facelift or any other number of available procedures, it is important that you meet with this prior to agreeing any form of plastic surgery. This is not only so I can be certain that you will obtain the result you’re looking for, but that also your expectations are realistic. Any form of surgery cannot be taken lightly and to me it is important that any plastic surgery you undergo will achieve the end goal.

This article is not meant to cast a negative shadow over plastic surgery, far from it. Plastic surgery is exceptionally beneficial to many, many people and I have been fortunate enough to see the transformation in many of my patients lives as a result of the work I have carried out. Job satisfaction is exceptionally important to me and only when I know my patients are pleased with my work do I then feel happy.

One thing I cannot stress strongly enough is the fact that you are welcome to get in touch with me at Robert Warr, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Bristol, at any time, whether it is to have a general discussion about plastic surgery or if you would like more specific information on plastic surgery you are considering having undertaken.

This may sound like a strange question, but in reality, certain procedures become more common at certain times of the year. It probably goes without saying, but one of the principal reasons for cosmetic surgery has its roots firmly embedded in self-consciousness. Society today puts a lot of pressure on people to look ‘perfect’ and while many of us will probably never feel we are perfect, we try our best to look our best.

Sometimes it can be as a result of dramatic weight loss or the changes the body undergoes after childbirth, but for some there comes a need for cosmetic surgery to make good the after-effects of such occurrences. This can range from a tummy tuck to surgery for what is commonly referred to as “bingo wings”, arm lift or brachioplasty as it is also called. Breast reshaping and breast augmentation are also more commonly asked at this time of the year and to me it all makes perfect sense. If we are uncomfortable with our bodies and there is a solution, then I’m always delighted to be an important part of that solution.Self-confidence is often the key to getting most out of life, yet oddly, when spring and summer arrives, self-confidence levels can dip for a good number of women because no longer are their bodies totally covered up. In fact, one of a noticeable number of reasons why my patients opt for plastic surgery at this time of the year is because they want to feel comfortable when either at the beach or simply wearing cool summer clothing.

Of course it is not just women who feel they have a need for plastic surgery, and at this time of year men can also become overly self-conscious about their bodies. Two of the most common procedures I carry out are male breast reduction and male nipple reduction. I have also noticed that many years ago men were too embarrassed to even consider seeing a plastic surgeon, but seven or eight years ago this all began to change.. Between 2010 and 2011 there was an 80% increase in the number of gynecomastia, or male breast reduction surgeries performed in the UK, with an overall boost of 20% in male cosmetic surgeries in general. This trend has continued and it is good news that today men need not feel embarrassed coming to a plastic surgeon.

At my surgery here in Bristol, Robert Warr Consultant Plastic Surgeon, it is quite remarkable the change I see in so many of my patients, not just from a physical point of view, but also from the point of view of personality, confidence and enthusiasm. Plastic surgery is most definitely greater than the sum of its parts in relation to the benefits it brings patients. It is because of the mental as opposed to physical change but I am always keen to have a comprehensive discussion with all my patients prior to any cosmetic surgery so that while the physical aspects can be discussed, my patients can also be made aware, in advance, of the likely positive mental changes that will also occur.

For this last reason if for no other, I always welcome calls from anyone who wishes to know more about plastic surgery in general, or if you feel you have the need for specific plastic surgery in Bristol.

Society is changing and so is the way we live. However, our bodies haven’t changed the way they age and the way we look as we get older. A couple of generations ago you could almost say that some people were old before their time, predominantly through the way they dressed and through the sedate lifestyle they led. Today things are very different and emphasis is now on staying as young as you can for as long as you can. So what happens when you look in the mirror?

However, cosmetic surgery is still an invasive procedure and not one that should be taken lightly. With all the patients I see in my surgery in Bristol it is important that each and every one is fully aware of exactly what is involved and the likely outcome. Expectations have to be realistic and the psychological as well as physical benefits have also to be taken into consideration. Cosmetic surgery can create visually noticeable differences in your appearance and this can have a dramatic effect on your mental state of mind. The combination of the physical and mental change can be quite a lot to handle, and as a consequence we like to make sure that each and every one of you that comes to see me for plastic surgery in Bristol is prepared both physically and mentally for the outcome.Well the mirror will tell you a contradicting story as it looks at the bags under your eyes, the crows’ feet to their side and the slightly drooping cheeks. As you look further down your body things aren’t where they used to be and it begins to feel as if everything is conspiring against you and that you are not allowed to be as young as you feel. Well thanks to the huge advancements in modern technology and cosmetic surgery procedures it is not so much a case that we are able to reverse the clock as far as your physiology is concerned, but something can certainly now be done through straightforward cosmetic surgery procedures that will help tremendously for whenever you do look in the mirror.

It is quite remarkable how, sometimes, facial cosmetic surgery can have a greater change in your face not simply as a result of surgical intervention but also as a result of the change in your overall demeanour. Whereas before you may have been more prone to frowning or simply being overly self-conscious of your appearance, after cosmetic surgery it can feel as if a considerable weight has been lifted from your mind and this is reflected back through more confident smile, bright eyes and generally more cheerful disposition.

If you are looking for a plastic surgeon in Bristol I, Robert Warr, would be delighted to recommend my services and would encourage you to book an initial consultation with me so that we can discuss what you would like to have done, what the choice of procedures could be, and also the reasons why you want the procedure performed. Plastic surgery can be as much a physical intervention as it is a holistic one, so to take that first step towards a new you please make sure you give me a call and come and see me.

Growing up can be tough enough without becoming overtly self-conscious about your looks. It is a distressing fact of life, but during your childhood and later years at school, having even the slightest deviation from the norm where physical looks are concerned can lead to extremely unhappy periods where pupils are bullied or certainly made to feel different because they are not seen as normal, whatever normal actually means.

What I, Robert Warr, do know from my years as practising as a cosmetic surgeon in Bristol is that there are still a good number of young adults who cannot wait to undergo plastic surgery as a means to improve what they have been convinced, for most of their life, is an unattractive feature. I have been fortunate enough to have witnessed not just the physical transformation of a number of my patients after they have undergone plastic surgery in Bristol, but also the transformation in their character, which helps to reassure me that the surgery itself was totally merited. For some of you, you may have other attributes, usually of a sporting nature, which can compensate and can negate teasing and bullying. However, for others the bullying and teasing can have such a dramatic effect that all you wish for is to have your features changed. This usually requires the passing of time in the majority of cases because until we reach adulthood our bodies are continually changing, as does our facial appearance. What we may have been bullied for when we were young can become less apparent as we grow up, and as we leave school and perhaps go on to university and make new friends we are able to outgrow our past and leave unpleasant experiences behind.

For many people who have no need or desire to undergo plastic surgery, such procedures are often seen as simply pandering to vanity and that they are very superficial in nature. Speaking from a position of authority I have to strongly disagree. To varying degrees, the physical changes can pale almost into insignificance when compared to the psychological ones and it is quite remarkable how a small physical transformation can have such a dramatic influence on the personality of a young adult who has grown up to feel unfairly but acutely self-conscious of their appearance.

Certainly I have had a number of clients who come to me with the express desire of simply enhancing what would appear, to the majority of us to be a lovely look, but seldom, if ever, do we see ourselves as others do. It can become very easy to over-exaggerate where we sense our looks are letting us down and therefore cosmetic surgery can provide a solution to a problem that has the potential to increase its effect it has on someone. Because of the varying needs that each individual patient has for considering plastic surgery I always welcome the opportunity for you to come to my surgery in Bristol for an initial consultation and full discussion on every aspect of plastic surgery. So, please feel free to call my surgery and make an appointment to come and see me at a time most convenient for you and let us discuss how I can help you.

Let’s face it – hair looks gorgeous on your scalp where it enhances your beauty, but not in many other places.  Women and men have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of pounds on imprecise razors, painful tweezers, sloppy creams and countless experimental contraptions in attempt to remove stubborn unsightly hair from unfortunate places all over their bodies.   There’s a much easier solution.  Laser hair removal is considered the fastest, easiest, least painful and relatively least expensive way to remove unwanted hair.  And these cooler, darker, mid-winter months are the ideal time to have it done.  An article in UK Vogue suggests getting your laser hair removal done in the winter because any degree of sun exposure might possibly hinder your results.  Skin tone largely determines how much and what kind of laser hair removal you will need, so a surface free of sunburn splotches or tan lines will yield superior, speedier results.  Skin that hasn’t seen sun in a few months will have returned to its natural pigment state – a perfect time to begin.  It usually takes up to four sessions to see results.  Always wait about three weeks between sessions.  Because the laser targets pigment, the less melatonin your skin has the safer, easier and more effective the procedure will be for you.
Dr. Robert Warr is a highly successful plastic surgeon in Bristol and Cheltenham, but plastic surgery is not his only specialty.   For over a decade he has excelled at non-surgical procedures on everything from varicose veins to laser hair removal.  He uses only the best Elite MPX lasers followed by a high-tech cooling system to make the procedure as safe and comfortable as possible.  His many satisfied patients will gladly describe how much relief and freedom of movement he’s brought them upon ridding them of unsightly hair.  But you can’t know exactly how much and what sort of preparation your particular skin type will require until you confer with this highly skilled practitioner.  Dr. Warr will explain to you exactly why all other methods failed in your particular case, then he’ll give you a step-by-step analysis of how and why he will wage war on your rampant hair growth.   Because he views laser treatment as an art as well as a science, he will examine the characteristics of your hair growth and determine the level of intervention and time required before customising your laser treatment. He will explain exactly what steps these procedures involve, along with any possible risks in your case.  Once you understand the suggested procedure, he will discuss the level of commitment required and make sure you’re comfortable with it.  Then your treatment will be scheduled at your convenience.  Make sure to book a time and date that will allow you to get some post-procedure recovery time.  The area will need to be cleaned and exfoliated before treatment, but your pain-free comfort will always be Dr. Warr’s priority.  He is never too busy to explain the little details or respond to your every concern. Ring Dr. Warr and launch a war against your unsightly stubborn hair growth today!

It’s a shame when a perfectly good-looking woman sports what appears like a second chin, which can’t help but draw the eye at each new meeting.  There’s now an easy way to rid yourself of such an unfortunate eyesore. An article in The Mirror features a woman who did away with her double chin after a simple one-hour liposuction session. Liposuction, the procedure, which removes unsightly, dimpled fat deposits.  But this new method removes fat cells from the body in a less invasive manner than traditional liposuction, so the recovery time is shorter.  Site-specific fatty deposits are often genetic and very tough to beat. And in our increasingly visual world we associate more and more of our identity with our looks.  So more and more people are increasingly saving up for plastic surgery or related non-surgical procedures.   Another very popular non-surgical procedure that corrects a genetic quirk is Botox.  This injection helps reduce muscle caused wrinkles in the mid forehead.  The effects of Botox last for about three to five months depending on the patient.   But long-term use weakens the muscles and lessens the frequency and amount necessary to achieve the wrinkle-free effect.

A Botox injection can relax the muscle and prevent future wrinkles, but is does not tread the furrows and creases already present.  For that an injectable fill would be required. Liposuction does not require deep incision, as it exists on the surface, relatively removed from muscle, tendon, bones or organs – so it’s a good starter procedure if you’re considering more invasive procedures down the line.  These three simple, minimally invasive and relatively inexpensive procedures can offer the gift of youthful glow and facial structural balance.  Such gifts however, require a surgeon with much experience and a gentle, steady touch.
Dr. Robert Warr has just that.  A renowned plastic surgeon In Bristol and beyond, he’s been a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England for over a decade.  As a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons he is constantly discussing and experimenting with cohorts who are also interested in refining the science and craft of plastic surgery. Once he researches the latest technological innovations Drawer shares them with his patients. When you experience the mastery of his cosmetic surgery you will understand why so many Brits and French patients trust him with their bodies and their self-esteem.   His reputation is best confirmed in his Bristol and Westerchire patients’ passionate testimonials.  When it comes to Botox and liposuction Dr. Warr is truly a master at shaping, contouring and resizing all parts of the body. He has a way of making each patient comfortable, pain and stress free with an infusion of a diluted tumescent anaesthetic and a light general anaesthetic.  Once the procedure is complete, your dimpled fat disappears forever! You’ll feel more attractive, less distracted and more light- hearted and not afraid to smile boldly around family and friends.  So rid yourself of the small genetic imperfections that disrupt your free-spirited ways –  ring Dr. Warr today!

Verruca warts are more common and more persistent than you may think when you first discover them on the soles of your feet, which many of us will at some point.

Also called plantar warts, myrmecia or verruca plantaris, these growths are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) which occurs solely on the sole or toe of the human foot.

As The Daily Mail points out, they are highly contagious and highly stubborn viruses that are caught most readily by people who walk around barefoot.  Many verruca bearers try a myriad of home remedies they hear or read about on line.  Usually, to no avail.  Sooner or later they end up seeking professional combatants for these highly resistant, often quite painful viruses.

Dr. Robert Warr is a highly successful plastic surgeon in Bristol and Cheltenham, but plastic surgery is not his only specialty.   For over a decade he has excelled at non-surgical procedures on everything from varicose veins to verruca warts.  His many satisfied patients will gladly describe how much relief and freedom of movement he’s brought them upon ridding them of unsightly virus.  How does he do it?  Through laser wart technology, which he has studied and excelled at for over a decade.  Laser treatment is a minimally intrusive procedure that when properly and persistently administered can eradicate these embarrassing nuisances for good.

But you can’t know exactly how much and what sort of preparation your particular type, size and density wart will require until you confer with this highly skilled practitioner.  Dr. Warr will explain to you exactly why all other methods failed in your particular case, then he’ll give you a step-by-step analysis of how and why he will wage war on your warts.

Because he views laser treatment as an art as well as a science, he will examine the landscapes of your soles to determine the level of intervention (superficial, medium or deep) before customising your treatment. He will explain exactly what steps these procedures involve, along with any possible risks in your case.  Once you understand the suggested procedure, he will discuss the level of anaesthesia required, and make sure you’re comfortable with it.  Then your treatment will be scheduled, at your convenience, at a time you’ll be able to get some post-procedure recovery time.  The area will need to be paired down a bit before treatment, but your pain-free comfort will always be his priority.

Though Dr. Warr will try to give you a time estimate for the length of the procedure, accessing the root of each wart may take a bit longer depending on the position of the growths on the foot and your skin type.   Once the battle is won, however, the war of prevention must go on. Always wear something on your feet, keep them exfoliated, get plenty of sleep and maintain a balanced diet – all which will strengthen your immune system to resist any wandering viruses in the future.  Ring Dr. Warr and launch the war against your warts today!

Teen angst has a new enemy – the surgeon’s scalpel.  Teenagers across Europe are fighting low self-esteem, paralysing body image and loneliness by seeking out liposuction for cellulite and breast augmentation for uncomfortably sized breasts.  The Guardian features some pretty dramatic case studies.  Many teens attempt to conquer cellulite with diets, creams and work out routines.  To no avail.   Fatty deposits are often genetic and very tough to beat. Young people live in an increasingly visual world and associate more and more of their identity with their looks.  So they are increasingly prepared to forgo other luxuries in order to save up for plastic surgery – all before they are even of legal drinking age.

Liposuction, the procedure which removes unsightly dimpled fat deposits on the thighs and buttocks, makes wearing a swim suit at the high school picnic a pleasure again.  Breast augmentation is a more complex, deeper reaching surgery in which a variety of implants are either inserted into the breast (breast enlargement) or portions of the breast are removed (breast reduction.)  Every teenage girl will tell you what a profound part of her identity her breasts will always be.  So the investment is well worth any other frivolous sacrifices she may have had on her birthday list as a younger girl.  This gift, however will require a surgeon with much experience and a gentle, steady touch.

In Bristol, Dr. Robert Warr has just that.  A renowned plastic surgeon, he’s been a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England for over a decade.  Dr. Warr researches the latest technological innovations to present to his patients.  As a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons he is constantly discussing and experimenting with colleagues who are just as interested in refining the science and craft of plastic surgery as he is.  When you see the exquisite mastery of his cosmetic surgery you will understand why so many Brits and French patients trust him with their bodies and their self-esteem.   And that trust, too, is contagious, as you can see from various patients’ passionate testimonials at his Bristol and Cheltenham offices.

To establish that trust in your teen, you may want to start with the most low impact procedure.  If you’re interested in liposuction Dr. Warr is truly a master at shaping, contouring and resizing all parts of the body by removing superficial fat (that’s fat just beneath the skin.)  Liposuction does not require deep incision, as it exists on the surface, relatively removed from muscle, tendon, bones or organs – so it’s a good starter procedure.  Dr. Warr makes each patient comfortable, pain and stress free with an infusion of a diluted tumescent anaesthetic and a light general anaesthetic.  Once the procedure is complete, your teen’s dimpled fat disappears forever! She’ll feel more attractive, less distracted from her school work and more light- hearted during family time.  So rid your household of self-absorbed insecure dwelling on adolescent body parts for good –  ring Dr. Warr today!

Ah the glimmer-shimmery lights of the holiday season!  They should put a smile on every passing face.  But if your skin is dull, wrinkled, scarred or excessively blemished you may not smile as easily.  Nothing like self-consciousness and embarrassment to ruin your holiday fun. And if you’re constantly scrubbing, lathering, slathering and covering your facial skin you’re wasting precious time that could be spent experiencing the joy of the season with friends and family, making memories and truly absorbing the beauty around you.

A chemical peel is a minimally intrusive procedure that could boost your confidence and inspire a brighter smile in a jiffy.  Whether you are concerned with fine lines, skin discolouration, age and sun spots, freckles of minor scarring this gentle procedure improves the texture and radiance of your skin by gently removing its outer damaged layers.  The type of peel and the intensity will vary based on your age, your race, your degree of damage and your skin type. The Daily Mail reports that oily skin requires more preparation before a chemical peel can be successful in both enhancing your skin’s radiance and removing all scars and discolorations.  But you can’t know exactly how much and what sort of preparation your particular skin type will require until you confer with a highly skilled and experienced plastic surgeon.

An extremely popular plastic surgeon in Bristol and Cheltenham is Dr. Robert Warr.  You need only to hear from his many satisfied patients to imagine how their faces glow after he performed their chemical peels.  Dr.Warr went into plastic surgery because he views it as a science and an art, which requires customised treatment and plenty of creativity.  Along with the standard chemical peels performed by standard cosmetic surgeons, Dr. Warr has developed a specialty in deeper peels for those whose skin has weathered harsher abuse or aging.  He consults at length with every patient to determine whether your skin would fare best with a 25% TCA peel or a 35% TCA peel.  In the appropriate circumstances these procedures can be enhanced with intensified techniques like structural fat grafting. None of these techniques are limited to the face – they can be applied to neck, arms, hands and legs. Once he accesses your skin, Dr Warr will suggest one of three levels of intervention: superficial, medium or deep. He will explain exactly what steps these procedures involve, along with any possible risks in your particular situation.

Once all procedure decisions are made he will discuss the level of anaesthesia required, then your treatment will be scheduled, preferably at a low stress time, when you will be able to get some post-procedure relaxation.  Remember, that no procedure can replace or excuse you from skin care.  There will be much pampering required to heal from this procedure and to protect your skin into the future.  Dr. Warr is never in a hurry, as he wants you to fully understand your skin type and the maintenance it requires.  When you care for your skin it will glow with holiday-like glory year round.  Ring Dr. Warr and let the celebrations begin!

Make-up DirectoryHoliday gifts are becoming more creative and unconventional every year.  Compassionate as well.  More people are gifting services and medical procedures than ever.  Especially appropriate for the giving season is that fact that charitable donations are also on the rise, as global citizens embrace more responsibility for their shared planet.  According to a study cited in The Guardian giving is contagious, especially if it is inspired by other givers you respect and admire.  Dr. Warr is such a giver.  A renowned plastic surgeon in Bristol, Dr Warr, a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England for over a decade, is constantly keeping up on the latest innovations in his field.

As a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons he carefully chooses his company, discussing and experimenting with colleagues who are just as curious and determined to refine the science and craft of plastic surgery as he is.   Because he values and nurtures friendships with his patients long after their procedures have been performed we was also inspired by one of them to found “Breast Cancer International.”   This charity is successfully supporting the prevention and surgeries associated with breast cancer in developing countries (where cancer rates are tragically catching up to ours.)

Through networking with like-minded professionals he established a partnership with a plastic surgeon in Nepal with whom he is expanding his cross continental mission.   So as he enhances the physical beauty of his patients Dr. Warr also enables discovery of their internal beauty by providing a venue for giving back.  And when you see the exquisite mastery of his cosmetic surgery you will understand why so many Brits and French patients trust him with their bodies, as well as their charitable donations.
And that trust, too, is contagious, as you can see from various patients’ passionate testimonials.  Many of them begin developing that trust with an initial, low impact procedure.  One of the most popular less intrusive plastic surgery procedures Dr. Warr has been performing for years is liposuction.  Many patients at both his Bristol and Westerchire offices come in with stories of all the strict diets, creams and work out routines they’ve attempted to conquer cellulite with.  To no avail.  Some fatty deposits are genetic and/or age-related and are very tough to beat.  Dr Warr is a master at shaping, contouring and resizing all parts of the body by removing superficial fat (that’s fat just beneath the skin.)  Liposuction does not require deep incision, as it exists on the surface, relatively removed from muscle, tendon, bones or organs. After an infusion of a diluted tumescent anaesthetic and light general anaesthetic patients are very comfortable, pain and stress free.  And once it’s over, your fat is gone for good! You’ll feel more attractive, less distracted by all that self-absorbed dwelling on your appearance, and light- hearted.  And when the heart is light it opens up to compassion and generosity.  So embrace the spirit of the season and ring Dr. Warr today!
